Assisi is the heart of Franciscan spirituality: the Basilica of San Francesco, with Giotto’s frescoes, tells the life of the saint, while the Eremo delle Carceri, set within the Monte Subasio forest, is where Francis would retreat for prayer. Cascia is linked to Saint Rita: the Shrine is a continuous pilgrimage destination. Norcia, the birthplace of Saint Benedict, preserves the Basilica in Piazza San Benedetto, a key reference point for Benedictine spirituality.

The Via di Francesco retraces the places where the Saint walked, from Assisi to Gubbio and on to Rieti, crossing landscapes that inspired Franciscan spirituality. The Path of the Silent Villages passes through small towns where time seems to have stood still, far from the more traveled routes. The Path of the Changed Lands crosses Umbria, Marche, Lazio, and Abruzzo, connecting areas affected by earthquakes in a route of rebirth and remembrance.
